
The primary activity of PSA PEUGEOT and CITROEN is cars (74 % of its staff). It also includes in its totality FAURECIA, the car equipment manufacturer and the haulage and logistics company GEFCO.
With 3 143 000 cars sold around the world in 2001, as compared with 2 816 000 in 2000 , PSA PEUGEOT CITROEN's sales mark a clear progression year on year. The Group has therefore overtaken its goal for 2001of 3 million vehicles sold. In a world-wide market registering a drop in activity of 1.2%, the Group shows a progression of 11.3%, realising in 4 years a rise in sales of more than 50%. This rise is explained by the performance of the two makes Peugeot and Citroen which in 2001 broke through yet again their previous sales records.
LThe firm, sixth car constructor in the world, thus represents more than 5.4% of the world market and registers the largest progression of all general motor constructors.
For its 2002 target, the PSA Group aims to maintain its progression and reach 3 250 000 sales thanks to the launch of many new models.
To cope with its expansion in the sale of spare parts, in particular, the group decided two years ago to reorganise the logistics its distribution operation in Europe. The Spare Part Logistics Program (PLPR) was born, and the Vésoul site then became the principal European warehouse.
Based in Haute-Saône for nearly fifty years, the PSA Peugeot Citroen Vésoul site is the principal private employer in the département. It alone employs 22% of the working population in an area numbering 30 000 inhabitants. In Vésoul nearly 125 references are stocked on the premises covering 310 000 square meters. The stores employ around 1800 people and dispatch 105 000 order lines per day.
